Data Set Short Name:
VJ130_NRT

Data Set Long Name:
VIIRS/JPSS1 Ice Surface Temperature 6-Min L2 Swath 750m NRT

Platform:
Joint Polar-orbiting Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1; now NOAA-20)

Instrument:
Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS)

Product Description:
The VIIRS/JPSS1 Ice Surface Temperature 6-Min L2 Swath 750m Near Real Time (NRT) data set, short-name VJ130_NRT reports sea ice surface temperature (IST) derived from radiance data acquired by the Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on board the JPSS1 satellite. Following the approach used by MODIS, the algorithm converts VIIRS calibrated radiances into brightness temperature and computes IST using a split-window technique.
File_naming_convention = "VJ130_NRT.AYYYYDDD.HHMM.CCC.YYYYDDDHHMMSS.nc

  • AYYYYDDD = Acquisition Year and Day of Year
  • HHMM = Hour and minute of acquisition
  • CCC = Collection version number
  • YYYYDDDHHMMSS = Production Date and Time
