Abstract PGE501 3.0.34

Geolocation team revised source code to activate the flagging of SAA and Eclipses and set QA Flag accordingly. QA Flag was already present, but the flagging had been inadvertently disabled. Will want to reprocess days for SNPP C2 and JPSS1 C2.1 from mission where eclipses occurred so flag is set appropriately. See attached document for list of dates impacted that will be reprocessed.

Problem Statement Source code revision within PGE501/Geolocation to activate flagging of SAA and Eclipses.

Data Granules to be Used for Science Testing A science test was conducted, to confirm the new PGE501/Geolocation code flagged eclipses correctly.
Justification Enabling the flagging of the SAA and Eclipses will provide more accurate information to science team members that need to exclude data impacted by these events.
Effective Date for Implementation of Change PGE501 v3.0.34 will go into forward processing in SNPP AS5200 and JPSS1 AS5201 starting 01/18/2022 (first data day for update to be used). Reprocessing of data days impacted by eclipses will begin on 01/17/2022 and days to be reprocessed are in attached document.
Status Major algorithm development completed. Sadashiva Devadiga approved 01/06/2022.
