Abstract | PGE134 V6.1.4 -- 1. Added changes made in 6.0.8 and was not yet incorporated in C61 version that fixes the bug that causes burned grid cells in columns 0 and 2399 of certain MODIS land tiles to be incorrectly relabeled as unburned. 2. Increments the internal SCF version from 4.0.0 to 4.0.1. 3. Changed dx.doi.org to doi.org |
Problem Statement | The operational C61 PGE134 was not based on the correct C6 PGE that had the fix for the edge of the tile burned area mislabeling. This bug causes the burned grid cells in columns 0 and/or 2399 (left-most and right-most columns) of 26 specific MODIS land tiles to be incorrectly relabeled as unburned. |
Description of Change | A new C61 PGE134 was baselined, incorporating the changes from C6 PGE134 V6.0.8 that corrected the issue of this reversal in burned area, that was noted to affect 26 specific land tiles. |
Products Affected | MCD64A1 |
Software Affected | PGE134 V6.1.4 |
Processing String to Receive the Change | Terra and Aqua Forward Processing. Terra and Aqua Reprocessing. |
Downstream Product Effects | None. |
Data Granules to be Used for Science Testing | Science test run at MODAPS (AS 1876) and test results reviewed and verified by LDOPE and the science team to confirm the fix. |
Justification | Before the corrected version of PGE134 (V6.1.4) was delivered, for larger burned areas, falling at the leading or trailing edge of 26 specific land tiles, you could see burned area falsely showing up as unburned. With the fix in place this issue is now corrected, and corrected products will be produced as part of C61 forward processing and re-processing. |
Effective Date for Implementation of Change | 2021301 (10/27/2021). The new code will be placed for C61 forward processing and also ongoing re-processing. All earlier processed products will be removed and re-processed with this revised version. |
