| Abstract | PGE23 v6.0.46 -- Added LoaderModule patch to ignore Aqua, if no Aqua inputs are available for the period: 2020220 - 2020246. |
| Problem Statement | Update the C6 Operational PGE23 used to generate the BRDF-Albedo to process the Aqua anomaly period (8/16 - 9/02, Aqua FMU/SSR anomaly) using Terra only or a combination of Terra and available Aqua inputs. Production rule for the PGE requiring at least one day of Aqua input in the 16-day compositing period caused the PGE to go to NoRun status for some of these days where no Aqua inputs could be found. |
| Description of Change | The PGE23 LM was modified to run with Terra only inputs, even if no single Aqua input could be found. This change was only restricted to the Aqua outage period between August 16 - September 2, 2020, to minimize chances of this PGE running with only Terra inputs, over any other period, where Aqua inputs are available. |

| Data Granules to be Used for Science Testing | Ran a science test over 37-days, including the Aqua outage period, in AS 1799, to test the changes made to the LM of PGE23 V6.0.46. All tiled MCD43A* products as well as the CMG products from the downstream PGE24/82, were assessed and the LM changes were confirmed to be working as expected. |
| Justification | This change enables processing of global BRDF/Albedo product using data from either of the missions for the gap period. Global BRDF-Albdeo data product for the gap period is needed immediately to meet needs of data users, and as input in processing of other land products from the gap period and in the forward processing beyond the anomaly period. |
| Effective Date for Implementation of Change | The revised PGE23 V6.0.46 has been put in operation for the C6 forward production, as of 09/29/2020, starting with data day 2020-222. |
