| Abstract | PGE116 6.1.9 -- Updated rttov_4modis1.c to handle errors in reading NWP data as fatal errors |
| Problem Statement | Operational C61 version of the PGE 116 occasionally ran to completion with RunOK status and no output product generated, when in reality the science process had exited failing to read the required input GEOS file that was not available for the process to use. This resulted in data gap in the global daily product. |
| Description of Change | The PGE116 updated by the science team to fail with a fatal error upon failure to read the GEOS input and record a RunErr status for the PGE. |

| Justification | The changes made to PGE116 V6.1.9 will ensure failure of the PGE, requiring reattempt of the process by MODAPS or the operator until GEOS input successfully read in and valid product generated. Re-reprocessing of the period 2002201 ? 2005182 is required to fill in the several random data gaps observed in the current C61stream |
| Effective Date for Implementation of Change | Install the revised PGE116 V6.1.9 at the leading edge of the on-going C61 reprocessing. Reprocess the following period for the L2 LST product using the revised PGE116 and re-reprocess the full suite of downstream L2G/L3 LST products: Terra: 2004210 - 2005182 Aqua: 2004210 - 2005184 |
