Abstract PGE11 6.4.7 - Updated PGE11.pl to have a exit non-fatal from the subset process MOD-PR09SS, and continue with remaining process.
Problem Statement PGE11 failed on occasional instances in the C61 processing, where the actual science process within PGE11 ran correctly generating science products PGE failed from failure to generate subset while running the subset sub- process (MOD_PR09SS) within the PGE. This would hold up downstream dailies and n-day products until the issue with the process is resolved and PGE is successfully rerun.
Description of Change Change the PGE11 production rule to have a non-fatal exit from the sub-setter process (MOD_PR09SS). With this change in PGE11 (V6.4.7), upon a sub-setter process failure the PGE will complete successfully and archive all the core science products, browse products, and the coarse products resulting in PGE instance marked as "RunOK".
Products Affected L2 surface reflectance subsets
Software Affected PGE11 6.4.7
Processing String to Receive the Change Terra and Aqua Forward Processing. Terra and Aqua Reprocessing. NRT
Downstream Product Effects C61 L2 Land Surface Reflectance subset products.
Data Granules to be Used for Science Testing As this is largely a small change in production rule with no expected impact on the actual science products, so no science test was conducted for this change.
Justification Failure of the PGE would hold off the downstream processing significantly impacting the progress of C61 reprocessing. This change would result in L2 surface reflectance subsets not generated in the operational C61 reprocessing on rare occasions from failure of the subset to run within the PGE. These subsets are largely used by the science team to monitor long term trends and a few missing subsets are not expected to negatively impact this on-going work.
Effective Date for Implementation of Change The PGE11 V6.4.7 has been inducted at the leading edge of C61 processing for both Terra and Aqua.
