Problem Statement | Recent R-based validation and the comparisons with AIRS and ASTER products presented at the NCDC Workshop held on 7-9 April 2008 indicate that the LSTsin C5 M*D11C underestimate up to 6K in some desert regions. So some usersrequested for production of the C4 MODIS LST products at the same time of theC5 MODIS LST production on their belief that C4 MODIS LST products provide better results in desert regions. |
Description of Change | The V4 PGE16 code has been changed to accept C5 input products (M*D02, M*D03,M*D07, M*D10 and M*D35). A new code was added to PGE32 to remove the LSTs severely contaminated by clouds from the daily CMG LST products (MOD11C1 and MYD11C1). |

Justification | The only improvement over the C5 LST products is in arid desert regions: better LSTs and emissivities, in response to users' request. The C4.1 test results are close to the C4 products (within +-0.4K in general and within +-0.2K in most cases). |
