| Abstract | Disable shadowed land screen to improve snow map over boreal forest. |
| Problem Statement | A screen implemented in C5 to improve quality of the MOD10_L2 product by reducing erroneous snow detections has been found to have a significant negative impact on snow mapping in the boreal forest in C5. The screen decreases the accuracy of snow cover mapping by 20% or more over much of the boreal forest in the winter and spring seasons. That decrease in accuracy is passed to all the downstream snow products. |

| Data Granules to be Used for Science Testing | Test PGE07 for data day 2000-306. MOD11 SCF will analyze the effect on LST products by running the PGE on selected MOD10 granules from this test. |
| Justification | The change will improve the MOD10_L2 by 20% or more. The change will reverse all error caused by this screen in MOD10_L2 and in turn quality of all downstream snow products will be improved. |
