Abstract | Introduction of four Deep Blue Aerosol parameters into L2 Aqua Atmosphere Joint product (MYDATML2). |
Problem Statement | Changes in the MODIS Aqua Aerosol product to accommodate the parameters ofthe Deep Blue algorithm also prompt changes in the Atmosphere L2 Joint product (MYDATML2). The Joint product is a collection of useful and variedAtmosphere parameters subsampled to 5 or 10 km resolution. In the presentcase, it is desirable to add four Deep Blue algorithm parameters to the Jointproduct. |
Description of Change | Four Deep Blue algorithm parameters from the Aerosol product (MYD04_L2) are to be added to the Atmosphere Joint product (MYDATML2). They consist of the following set: - Deep_Blue_Aerosol_Optical_Depth_550_Land - Deep_Blue_Angstrom_Exponent_Land - Deep_Blue_Single_Scattering_Albedo_412_Land - Deep_Blue_Aerosol_Quality_Assurance |
Products Affected | MYDATML2 |
Software Affected | PGE83 |
Processing String to Receive the Change | Aqua Forward, Aqua Reprocessing |
Downstream Product Effects | None. |
Data Granules to be Used for Science Testing | There have been several science tests over the course of development, allrelying mainly on the 16-day Aqua Atmosphere science test data set. |
Justification | Prior to the implementation of the Deep Blue algorithm in PGE04 (Aerosol product), only poor quality or no retrievals were possible over desert surfaces. With the development of the Deep Blue algorithm, improved aerosol data becomes available to the Atmosphere L2 Joint Product user community. |
Effective Date for Implementation of Change | Start of C5 Aqua Reprocessing. |
Status | Vincent Salomonsom approved on 02/12/07. |
