| Abstract | PGE596 2.0.2 Revised the PGE596_LoaderModule.pl to look for and staged NISE_A2 data instead of NISE data |
| Problem Statement | During the government shutdown that began on 10/1/25, the NISE data set was not available, which was identified on 10/3/25 due to VIIRS Recipes not proceeding as they should. A determination was made to switch to NISE_A2, which was available and had been evaluated and approved for use for MODIS C6.1 leading edge processing. |
| Description of Change | Revised the PGE596_LoaderModule.pl to look for and staged NISE_A2 data instead of NISE data. |

| Data Granules to be Used for Science Testing | A science test was not specifically run for VIIRS using NISE_A2, but several were with MODIS PGEs, and the impact of going from NISE to NISE_A2 was minimal. This information was used to guide the decision to swith VIIRS from NISE to NISE_A2. LDOPE was made aware of the update and asked to monitor the data for quality. |
| Justification | Without moving from NISE to NISE_A2, production would either have needed to use old NISE data to continue processing at leading edge, which could have impacted the data quality due to the age of the NISE inputs. Given NISE_A2 had been in use for MODIS since beginning of August 2025, it was determined using the current NISE_A2 would allow for processing to continue for NRT and standard production, while keeping the data quality at a consistent level. |
